10 Powerful Ways to Support Yourself in Times of Trouble

It is interesting to me that during times of stress or trauma, we frequently forget to use our spiritual tools to seek peace and comfort. I know that I do it, and I have seen so many of my clients do the same thing. I thought that it might be useful to make a top 10 list to fall back on in times of trouble. Not everything on my list will resonate with you. I hope that you use this as a springboard to create your own.

1- Meditate, in any way that you see fit. It doesn’t have to be a ton, 15 minutes a day will do. Binaural beats are great for this. YouTube has a fantastic selection.

2- Aromatherapy is always a go-to for me. Diffuse or wear citrus oils like grapefruit and bergamot to shift you out of a low place. Wear rose or sandalwood to help you feel loved and supported.

3- Pull a card from a loved deck every day. Just shuffle the deck and ask, “What do I need to know today?” as you are shuffling and pull one card. Read the card, examine the picture, and read the card description in the book for added inspiration.

4- Choose a positive affirmation for the day or week. Google images are packed with positive affirmations if you need help choosing a good one. Repeat it frequently and place it in a spot that you will see it.

5- Service is a crucial way for me to perk up. It can be as simple as a sweet note to someone that needs it. Baking a treat to share, beautifying the earth in some way, buying coffee for a stranger...it is an endless list.

6- Permit yourself to waste some time. I tend to beat myself up for doing nothing, when that may be precisely what I need. After all, those candies aren’t going to crush themselves!

7- Drink water. I believe that frequently, low vibes are a sign that your body needs some water. According to WebMD, sleepiness, irritation, and confusion can all be signs that you are becoming dehydrated.

8- Wear something that you feel good about. For me, that means something soft, comfy, and purple. The last thing you need right now is to be in a fight with your clothes.

9- Read a good book. Sometimes old stand bys are the best medicine. If I pick up the Mists of Avalon or Harry Potter, I am sure to enter a world that makes me feel better.

10- Open the shades and the windows, if you can. Fresh air and sunlight are vital to finding your happy place. Sitting in dark rooms is likely not doing you any favors.

What would you add to my list? Let me know in the comments; perhaps your suggestions will help me to grow mine as well!

Be well, my friends. You are so worth taking excellent care of. You deserve all of the marvelous gifts of the Universe.
