When I was 11 years old, I won a ride in a hot air balloon. 30 years later I am reflecting on how I allowed a negative experience to overshadow all of the wonder of the ride. It is a good life lesson to me.
“So, I looked through your records…” My new doctor began, “And I don’t see any record here of a mammogram.”
“No, there isn’t one.” I admitted hesitantly, with a knot in my stomach. “I have never had one.” She didn’t know it, but she was keying in on one of my biggest fears. The big C. Breast cancer, or any mention of it. I am an expert at avoiding this topic. I braced myself for what I knew was coming.
“That is not acceptable. You are 41 and counting. Your mother died from breast cancer..."
My husband has been longing to make a mini pig a part of our family for a long time. A really long time. I have held out for years, but recently decided that now is the time. Finally, we picked our baby up from the breeder last week.
She is 7 weeks old. She weighs 2 lbs. She is just tiny and adorable. And sassy, demanding and opinionated! It is as if we have a newborn baby on our hands. In fact, we do! Her name is Fiona, because she is a bit like living with an ogre.
When I was a kid, I had a cousin named Eric who adored creepy crawly things. The only thing he loved more than all of his critters was making everyone else uncomfortable with them. If you were willing to hold his snakes, geckos, rats etc, then you were cool. If you weren't, he would harass you with them until you were. Every one of his critters was named Leroy. He pronounced it in various ways. Heavy on the Leeeee-roy. A subtle Lee with an accented Roy. You get it...
Making your own set of Witches Runes is a lot of fun. There are 13 stones in a witches set. You can make your runes out of wood, rocks or clay. Be sure to bless your runes with your own intentions before your use them. Simply hold them in your heart and tell them what you would like to do. I like this blessing, "I bless these runes to always tell the truth, both to the reader and the person being read. Let us always work together for the highest and best good of all involved."
Privacy. Something that we think we want, until someone gives us a cell phone and an Instagram account. People get very upset about the government prying into their privacy, and yet they are likely to spill their deepest darkest secrets to their hairdresser next time they get their hair done. We are funny like that. We want privacy, but always on our own terms. I live in a small house with a husband, three teenagers, and six dogs. There is no privacy to be had...
"You have to HAVE balance between giving and receiving...You give too much...All you ever do is take care of others." We have all heard it, right? I know I have, and I have probably even said it. We have convinced ourselves that there is something wrong with giving with our whole hearts, like that somehow sends the wrong message to the Universe. I am so tired of that message. I don't believe it. I believe that some people were born with a spark in their soul to nurture everyone they come across.
Scent is a powerful thing! Smells hold so much nostalgia, and can take us back to memorable times in our lives. For pregnant women, otherwise harmless smells can trigger an avalanche of nausea. For others, certain scents can instantly force a painful memory to the surface. In the psychic world, scents are powerful as well.
The spirit world does a great job at grabbing our attention through our sense of smell. It is called “clairolifacation.”
I’m turning 40 this week. It’s bringing up some weird emotions for me. I don’t really mind getting older. I got a text from my aunt this morning referring to my sisters and me as “you kids.” I had to laugh. Age is relative, right? I am nearly 40, but I will always be one of the kids to her. Yesterday, my husband instructed our son to hang his cell phone up. That made me laugh too. You know you are old when you think you are hanging your cell phone up, instead of putting it on the charger...
As a Past Life Regressionist, I have conducted countless regressions with clients. I have learned so many valuable things from those sessions, and occasionally things that challenge my own beliefs. Sometimes people tell me that they want to have a past life regression because it sounds like fun. I always assure them that it is not going to be fun. It is going to be work. Life changing, sometimes gut wrenching, work. And it is going to be worth it.
